Get rice
Make ready Tur Dal
Prepare large Onion
Get tomatoes

Instructions to make One Pot Sambar Rice:
Wash and soak dal and rice together for 30 mins
In a pressure cooker, heat oil and ghee, put mustard seeds, once it splutters add Cumin seeds and hing.
Add chopped green chillies, onions and curry leaves let onion cook till light golden
Now add ginger garlic paste or crush fresh ginger garlic. Blend tomatoes in blender and add puree
Once the oil separates add all the dry spices, Now add water and salt, let the water boil.
Add tamarind water and jaggery, now add soaked rice and dal. Cook for 2 whistles on high flame and cook on low flame for 5 mins
Switch off flame and let the pressure release on its own
Once done, Serve with papad, chips or achar.
Water quantity can be reduced if you want thick consistency
