Get 1/2 kg ripe juicy tomatoes roughly chopped
Take 1 tbsp tuvar dal
Prepare 3 tbsp oil

Get 1 big pinch hing
Get 1/2 tsp jeera
Make ready 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
Make ready 2 tbsp freshly grated coconut

Prepare 4 tbsp rasam powder
Prepare 7-8 curry leaves

Steps to make Tomato rasam:
Pressure cook the tomatoes and Dal for 4-5 vissels over medium heat, add 2-3 glasses of water while pressure cooking. once the cooker cools down, puree the tomatoes using a hand blender.
In a pan, take oil once the oil heats up add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing & curry leaves and Kashmiri red chillies, cook it for 20 seconds and then add the tomato dal puree.
Cook the rasam on medium flame for 5-8 minutes till you get one boil, then add rasam powder, red chilli powder, tamarind pulp, salt and mix well. Cook it for another 10-12 minutes.
Now add fresh coconut and chopped coriander, give it one more boil and then switch off the gas, serve with Idiyappam or wadas.
